Brazil’s media market is the largest in Latin America, and the list below covers the São Paulo and Rio nationals, the big web portals that most readers actually start from, the state dailies, and a strong technology press.

Folha de S. Paulo, O Globo and Estadão are the three national papers of record, with Valor Econômico the reference for business and Correio Braziliense covering the capital. O Dia and Extra serve the popular market in Rio.

Portals matter more in Brazil than in most countries. UOL, G1, R7 and Terra aggregate and originate news at enormous scale, and Metrópoles and Poder360 have built large audiences in Brasília politics.

Magazines and weeklies remain influential: Veja, IstoÉ, Exame and Carta Capital, which together span a wide political range.

State and regional dailies are the main local record — Zero Hora and Correio do Povo in Rio Grande do Sul, Estado de Minas and O Tempo in Minas, Diário de Pernambuco, O Povo in Ceará, A Tarde in Bahia and Gazeta do Povo in Paraná.

Football runs through ge and Lance!, and technology through TecMundo, Canaltech, Olhar Digital and Tecnoblog. All titles publish in Portuguese.
