Dutch news is split between a few national dailies, a strong public broadcasting system and a regional press that still covers the provinces properly. The list below includes all three, plus the country’s unusually good technology sites.

De Telegraaf is the largest-circulation daily, with Algemeen Dagblad close behind. de Volkskrant, NRC and Trouw are the quality papers, spanning progressive to Christian-social, Het Parool covers Amsterdam, and Het Financieele Dagblad handles business. Nederlands Dagblad and Reformatorisch Dagblad serve Protestant readerships.

NOS is the public news organisation and the most-used source in the country, alongside RTL Nieuws, EenVandaag and BNR Nieuwsradio. NU.nl leads online-only reading.

Regional titles such as De Gelderlander, Brabants Dagblad, De Limburger, De Stentor, Leeuwarder Courant, Dagblad van het Noorden and PZC are the local record, and the regional broadcasters sit beside them — including Omrop Fryslân, which broadcasts in Frisian.

De Correspondent and Follow the Money are member-funded and investigative; De Groene Amsterdammer carries the weekly essay tradition. Tweakers is one of Europe’s largest technology communities. DutchNews.nl and NL Times publish in English.
