Spain’s press is national, regional and multilingual all at once, and the list below is organised to reflect that rather than to flatten it.

El País, El Mundo, ABC, La Vanguardia and La Razón are the major dailies, with 20 Minutos leading the free press. The digital-native sector is exceptionally strong: El Confidencial, El Español, eldiario.es, InfoLibre, Público, Okdiario and Vozpópuli between them cover the full political spread. Business runs through Expansión, Cinco Días and El Economista.

Spain’s other official languages have their own papers. In Catalan: ARA, El Punt Avui, VilaWeb, ElNacional.cat and the Catalan edition of El Periódico. In Basque: Berria, Deia and the broadcaster EITB. In Galicia, La Voz de Galicia, El Correo Gallego and La Región.

The regional dailies are among the best-read titles in the country — El Correo, El Diario Vasco, Heraldo de Aragón, Levante-EMV, Las Provincias, Diario Sur, Ideal, El Norte de Castilla, La Nueva España and Faro de Vigo.

Sport has four competing dailies: Marca, AS, Mundo Deportivo and Sport. Broadcasters RTVE, Cadena SER, COPE and laSexta, and the agencies EFE and Europa Press, complete the picture.
